Primary Services

Our primary services are after-school literacy programs for children ages 6 through 17 who meet eligibility guidelines. These programs operate daily during the school year from 3:15-5:30 pm and in the summer. The curriculum is designed and administered by our professional program director and implemented with the assistance of paid staff and community volunteers. Progress is evaluated by a combination of assessment tools including testing three times a year, competency logs, and communications with each child’s public school teacher. Homework assistance and a nutritious snack are also provided.

Meetings with adult caregivers are held at least once a quarter in which guest speakers from the community are invited to present information on topics including nutrition, health care, home-school communication, safety and community services.

Eligibility

The center serves residents of incorporated and unincorporated Glen Ellyn and surrounding communities within Glen EllynSchool District 41 and 89 boundaries. Participation is open to all children who reside in this service area and who meet low-income and academic risk guidelines.

Collaboration

We supplement our core literacy services through collaborations with other community service providers to offer children a variety of cultural adaption, enrichment and relational learning opportunities and to help parents/caregivers support their children’s educational and social development.
